Autobio

Hi guys ♥ I thought I’d just share with you guys the autobio I had to write for my class, as kind of like an introduction type thing :) No harsh comments now, I wrote this within 20/30mins lol.

We were suppose to answer this:
Respond to the following:
» Describe your computer system, including its operating system (OS), system processor, and memory.
» Confirm that you own and have installed Adobe Creative Suite (CS5 or CS5.5 – later versions will not work for this class), including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, and Bridge.
» Describe any experiences you have had with the software featured in this course.

Good morning everyone!

My name is Charmaine Manansala, but you can call me Char for short. I am 20 years old, currently residing in Wisconsin, USA; and a proud Filipino. For the past 3 years, I’ve attended 2 colleges while majoring in Graphic Design. I’ve attended Ferris State University, 2008-2009 and Finlandia University, 2009-2011. Due to my living situation right now, I am unable attend Finlandia to finish my courses until Spring 2012. But instead of skipping a full semester, I’ve decided to take some courses here through AIoP Online. I’m actually really excited to be here, for this is my first online class ever! I’m currently unemployed but I am searching. My objective is to find a position in the future, where I can be free to express my creative abilities, to solve visual problems and improve as a Graphic Designer. I believe that my strengths lie in Graphic Design, with emphasis in promotional material and web page interfaces. I’m a well-rounded person and eager to learn. I am ready to take on wide variety of projects.

I use a Sony VAIO with Windows 7 OS, has an Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00GHz Processor, 3.00GB of RAM; which currently has 14.3 GB of free space left. But I also have a built desktop that is run with Windows 7, has an AMD Athlon™II X4 635 Processor 2.90 GHz, 4GB of RAM with 523GB of free space. I also own the Adobe Master Collection CS4 & CS5. As for my experiences with the software required for this class, I’ve been using Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator for years, since I was around 11 yrs old. My first Adobe Software was actually Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0. I’m no expert by any means but I have a lot of experience working with graphics for websites, logos, etc. I just love playing around with them! I’ve also taken classes in the past where we used all Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Flash. I also played around with Bridge before. Right now, on my spare time, I’m trying to learn more of Adobe Flash and After Effects for I don’t really know much about them.

On my spare time, I enjoy making beauty and fashion related videos on YouTube. I also love blogging and photography; currently own a Sony Nex3 with a 18-55mm lens, and recently I purchased the Fishy Eye Conversion Lens to go with it. Another thing that I’m really big on is the social networking, ex. Twitter, FaceBook, YouTube, Tumblr, WordPress, you name it! Everything I do has to have some type of art in it, I create all my images on my blog, I edit my own photos, everything! Taking up Graphic Design as my major for college significantly enhanced my understanding of design’s relation to communication, and has given me a competitive edge when it comes to identifying audience and developing effective marketing strategies. As result, my designs get noticed and make an impact. I’m also pleasant to work with other people, being very considerate and open-minded when it comes to input and suggestions. I am a communicative team player who enjoys working with other people but am also quite comfortable working independently. Being fluent in two languages has also given me insight into other cultures, teaching me ways of communicating both as a person and as a designer.

Ps. The desktop is Tom’s :) Which he lets me use whenever I need to do major editing (photos or videos) ♥
